European Film Festival 2016

The European Film Festival 2016 was coordinated by the Goethe-Institut South Africa, hosted by Ster-Kinekor Cinema Nouveau, and organised in partnership with the European Union and 11 European cultural agencies or embassies in South Africa: the General Representation of the Government of Flanders, the French Institute, the Italian Cultural Institute, the Camões Institute, the British Council, and the Embassies of Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Sweden.

The 2016 edition of the festival included the following films:

  2. Belgian Rhapsody by Vincent Bal (Belgium, 2014)
  3. Chocolat by Roschdy Zem (France, 2016)
  4. Labyrinth of Lies by Giulio Ricciareli (Germany, 2014)
  5. Fire at Sea by Gianfranco Rosi (Italy, 2016)
  6. A Family Affair by Tom Fassaert (The Netherlands, 2015)
  7. Body by Malgorzata Szumowska (Poland, 2015)
  8. Montanha by João Salaviza (Portugal, 2015)
  9. Flowers by John Garrano and Jose Mari Goenaga (Spain, 2014)
  10. Something Must Break by Ester Martin Bergsmark (Sweden, 2014)
  11. Amy by Asif Kapadia (the United Kingdom, 2015)

The European Film Festival was part of the EuropeFest, presenting in South Africa in May 2016 a diverse range of EU Member States cultural events.
